James Peterson
Owner/Trainer
Nickname(s): Jaimy
Age: 41
Height: 6'1"
James, or more well known as Jaimy grew up in Montana on the family cattle ranch. A proud, rich family, the ranch had been in his father's family for several generations, so it came as no surprise to the ten year old when his desire to learn about eventing and horse racing was not met with great enthusiasm. However, his grandparents (on his mother's side) had pity on the little cowboy who wanted out, so they took him during the summers to their own stables in Washington state. It was here he was properly exposed to horse racing, where he rode his first jumper, and where he realized what it was he wanted to do. From the first time he laid eyes on a thoroughbred racehorse, he knew that he wanted to work with them. A business and equine science major, he quickly caught on to what it meant to be a trainer, and to manage a stable full of horses. It wasn't long after he graduated that he found a stable to build up, and gradually began working up a stable.
For ten years, he bought and sold racehorses, never suffering but never making much of a profit. He was never concerned by this, but always felt that there was more he could do. His opportunity came in the form of a tragedy. His grandparents stables burned to the ground, and his aunt who had been managing it simply could not take the stress of trying to fix it anymore. So, he saw an opportunity and he took it. He sold his own farm to his aunt, and bought his grandparent's demolished stables and property for next to nothing. The next few years he spent building it back up again, and only a few years ago did he begin training racehorses again. It was looking for horses that he met his long term jockey and close friend, Lucy McDuff, and slowly he began working his way back into the industry again.
Jaimy is an easygoing fellow. He's intelligent and a quick thinker, and has a reassuring way of speaking that gives him a good touch with horses, and people alike. Everything he does is deliberate, he's forward and not afraid to tell you what is on his mind. He'll sometimes school the racehorses when there are problems that crop up, but usually only the older animals due to his height and weight. He has no problem issuing orders, and is very firm in his beliefs, although he is open to new ideas. Quiet and thoughtful, he is not one to make his presence known, and likes to mingle in the main grandstands during races, and he generally does not boast about his horses either. However, that does not mean he can't enjoy a joke every now and then, and like all racing enthusiasts, he won't say no to a wager or two.

Lucy McDuff
Jockey
Nickname(s): Duffy, Lu
Age: 26
Height: 5'2"
Lucy grew up in London. It's obvious by her cockney, city accent, though it isn't as heavy as some of the locals who grew up there, mostly because she spent some time in the country as well, not to mention the States. She grew up around horses, and did the works of it all - jumping, dressage, eventing, she even did some mounted games and a little polo. Her home life wasn't the greatest, so she spent most of her time out. She got into horse racing when she was thirteen. When she was sixteen, she got a job as a groom at the racetrack, and it wasn't long before she was sought out by a local trainer to train his chasing horses. Then, it moved to track horses - both dirt and turf, and when she was twenty-one she rode in her first race. She had a brief, shining career and a knack for getting to know a horse quickly and find good spots and holes.
She was making good money, was loving her job, and then the unthinkable happened: she screwed up. Now this wouldn't have been bad, except not only did the mistake cost her the race, it nearly cost her life, and it killed the horse she was riding. She never speaks of it to this day, but after a good six months in the hospital, she decided to get out. But where else was there good money to be made riding racing ponies? The answer was simple: The States. So, she immigrated, and became a full citizen at twenty-two, and it wasn't long after that she met James at a local track, riding exercise horses. He was already interested when she boldly captured one of his loose horses (he'd been forced to fire the idiot groom who'd left the door open), and when he saw her ride he was sold. Owner and jockey became good friends fast, and seeing as his establishment was so small, she ended up playing a significant role in the running of the stables, even though she didn't own any of the horses.
Lucy is spunky and irritating, and not afraid to cuss her brains out. She's always been mouthy, but she has to be to make up for what she lacks in height. There is no fooling around with her though - she's a great deal stronger than she looks, and while she is a bit on the heavier side for being a jockey, she rides like a breeze and makes up for it in strength. She loves a good joke and a good horse, more than anything she loves the rush of racing. She almost never shuts up, and is constantly talking to whatever horse she's riding, regardless if there is a purpose or not. Despite her accident, she still trucks on like the fire pistol she is, never letting fear get the better of her but also knowing when to pull the plug. Naturally she is a daredevil at heart, although with her schedule, she certainly isn't one to say no to a nap either.

Evan Winters
Jockey
Nickname(s): Winter, Ice
Age: 24
Height: 5'0"
Evan is the newest recruit at Evergreen. He's a bit of a green rider himself, having finished school not long ago, and while he's only a couple years behind Lucy, she's still got loads to teach him. He grew up riding eventing horses, so he knows all about fast and dangerous, but he didn't make the switch until he was forced to sell his favorite eventer due to money problems, and found riding racehorses to be a good way to make money, and due to his height he was lapped up almost immediately. He spent the start of his career bouncing all over the country riding various claimers until Jaimy spotted him, saw potential and offered him a job. People often call him "Ice" because of his last name, and because of the rigid way he becomes on a horse every so often.

Jeff Blakely
Jockey
Nickname(s): Scoot
Age: 39
Height: 5'1"
Jeff is best known as "Scoot" because his favorite word on the track is exactly that - scoot. He's usually the only one who openly barks at his horses, and next to Lucy is the chattiest jockey on the training track. His cries of "scoot, scoot!" when he wants a horse to run have made it so that most people do not even know his real name, all they know is Scoot, or Scoot Blakely. He practically grew up on the track, always in the saddle, and when he was eighteen he rode hi first racehorse. He's broken more bones than he cares to count, been in the hospital enough times to know the paramedics at Keeneland by first name, and he's fondly known as a rather bad luck charm, because the nastiest accidents always seemed to happen to him, which was why he was forced to move around so much, because even though he was a fine rider his reputation of somewhat reckless riding and nasty injuries made it difficult for him to find work. He met Lucy on the west coast and served as a bit of a coach to her, so when she befriended Jaimy, she repaid him and got him a job.
